Scientists from Leoben present research at the ECCM 2024

The European Conference on Composite Materials (ECCM) took place in Nantes, France, from July 1 to 5, 2024. The conference, which is considered the largest of its kind in Europe, attracted around 1,300 participants from universities, research centers and industry worldwide.

Polymer Engineering and Science Leoben was strongly represented. Ten scientists from the Department of Polymer Engineering and Science Leoben and the Polymer Competence Center Leoben (PCCL) took part in the conference. They presented their research results in several lectures, including topics such as “On the determination of shear strength from tensile tests of ±45° fiber reinforced polymer laminates” and “Influence of media on the static fracture mechanic behavior of short fiber reinforced polymers”. In addition to the presentations, the Leoben researchers also contributed posters on their current research.

The Institutes of Materials Science and Testing of Polymers (WPK), Processing of Composites and Design for Recycling (VV), Chemistry of Plastics (CK) and Designing in Plastics and Composite Materials (KKV) were represented.

The ECCM offered participants not only a platform for exchanging information on the latest developments in the field of composites, but also the opportunity to establish contacts with international researchers and industry representatives. The conference once again demonstrated the importance of interdisciplinary cooperation and Europe's role as a leading force in composites research.

The ECCM is organized biennially and provides a valuable opportunity for experts to present their research and exchange information on current trends in the composites industry.
