New certificate program for pipeline engineering

Montanuniversität Leoben is expanding its educational offerings and will be offering a new certificate program in pipeline engineering from October 2025. The program was developed to meet the growing demand for experts in pipeline construction. The program enables professionals to plan, operate and maintain critical infrastructure for the safe and efficient transport of various resources.

The program comprises a total of nine modules and 22 specialist courses that provide in-depth training in the planning, construction and operation of pipelines for various resources. These include hydrocarbons such as crude oil and natural gas, but also hydrogen, carbon dioxide, geothermal fluids, ammonia, water, wastewater and other industrial and environmentally relevant substances.

A particular focus of the program is on topics such as:

  • Offshore Pipeline Engineering
  • automation
  • safety systems
  • integrity management
  • project management and sustainable practices.

Flexible and future-oriented training program

Thanks to a flexible, modular structure, participants can adapt the course to their professional commitments. The two-semester certificate course enables both in-depth specialization in specific areas and a comprehensive understanding of pipeline engineering as a whole. This format is ideal for individuals in the pipeline, energy and infrastructure sectors who want to expand their knowledge and adapt to the challenges of global resource transportation.

As global energy systems are increasingly geared towards sustainability, infrastructure modernization is essential. Qualified engineers in the field of pipeline technology are therefore becoming indispensable. With the new certificate course, Montanuniversität Leoben is helping to develop innovative solutions for a resource-efficient future. In line with its vision “Made for the future”, the university combines the latest scientific findings with practical training to optimally prepare participants for success in this dynamic field.
