240 participants from 25 countries listened to 27 invited talks and tutorials, given by international experts in their fields including two Nobel Prize winners, Klaus von Klitzing and Andre Geim. An important part of the school is also the poster session with about 140 contributions.
Since its beginnings in the 1970s this biannual conference was organised as a “winterschool” with a free afternoon break for skiing between the morning and the evening sessions. The main organiser is the Institute of Semiconductor and Solids State Physics at the JKU Linz, but an important contribution is always provided from the Chair of Physics at the MU Leoben. Not only the programme committee was supported this year again by a member of our chair (Christian Teichert), but also the poster session of the winterschool is enabled by providing the majority of the poster boards for presenting about 140 posters!
