Doctoral Studies

Those who complete a doctoral program at the University of Leoben are qualified to carry out independent scientific work in the field of mining sciences. In doing so, you should use state-of-the-art technology to further develop your knowledge and scientific methods in your respective field and take a holistic and interdisciplinary approach to problems.

Early entry into the international specialised sector is also recommended and desired. The publication of your research results in international scientific media is therefore expected even before graduation. The degree program thus also serves to educate and promote young academics and prepares you optimally for an international career.

The ability to think in an interdisciplinary way should be developed to a particularly high degree, as this will make you a link and mediator between the montanistic and other sciences. Possible areas of work include science, research and development as well as management positions in industry, business and administration.

A distinction is made between the PhD programme in Mining Sciences at the University of Leoben and the PhD in Responsible Consumption and Production.
