University Management

The University Management forms the centrepiece of the Montanuniversität. It is made up of various committees that jointly shape the strategic direction and development of the university: the University Council, Rectorate and Senate.

They work together to create an excellent academic environment in which research and teaching can flourish at the highest level.

The legal basis of public universities in Austria is the Universities Act (UG 2002). It contains organisational, study-related and personnel-related regulations, as well as ordinances issued by the Federal Minister of Education, Science and Research.
UG 2002 / University Act 2002 (available in German only)

Each university (according to § 19 (1) UG 2002) shall issue the necessary regulations itself by ordinance (statutes) within the framework of the laws and ordinances. The statutes are to be adopted and amended by the Senate on the proposal of the Rectorate by simple majority.
