Struck by lightning
The first particle accelerators, you know them from the film "The DaVinci Code", were built around 1925.
Historically, attempts have been made to achieve core fragmentation using natural processes. The physicists derived the necessary high voltage directly from thunderclouds in order to tap into the necessary energy. It actually sounds promising, but this method was quickly discontinued. The risk of being struck by lightning yourself was simply too great.
In the physics units, our students will bring you closer to other delicacies from physics as well as the importance of physical processes for your studies.
